Serious Space, Serious Value
The Geely EX5 landed in Australia in 2025 and immediately made waves as a value-packed medium electric SUV challenging established players. With sleek design and smart tech that redefines modern driving, the EX5 delivers up to 430km WLTP range, heated and ventilated front seats and a level of equipment typically reserved for pricier models.
A novated lease transforms the Geely EX5’s compelling value into something even smarter, using pre-tax income to reduce your taxable salary while bundling all running costs into one predictable payment.
Performance that delivers without the drama
The EX5 is designed for smooth, efficient everyday driving. Its 160kW front-wheel-drive motor can reach 0–100km/h in under seven seconds, giving it confident performance without trying to be overly sporty.
- Comfort-focused suspension helps absorb bumps and rough city streets.
- Efficient energy use, averaging around 145Wh/km in town and 159Wh/km on highways.
- Real-world range of 375–430km from its 60kWh LFP battery.
- Fast charging can take the battery from 30–80% in about 20 minutes.
With an EX5 novated lease, charging, insurance, servicing and registration can all be bundled into one convenient pre-tax payment, making ownership refreshingly straightforward.
Is the Geely EX5 exempt from FBT with a novated lease?
Yes. The Geely EX5 qualifies for complete FBT exemption as a pure electric vehicle priced well under the $91,387 luxury car tax threshold. This means no fringe benefits tax on your novated lease, stacking maximum tax savings on top of your salary sacrifice benefits for seriously reduced taxable income.

The Process
How It Works
A novated lease is a way to pay for your car and its running costs using your pre-tax income, which in the eyes of the ATO reduces your total salary and therefore the amount of tax you pay. It sounds simple, but it’s a total game-changer. Here's how it works in three simple steps.
You + Your Vehicle
Found the car you want? Perfect. Now, instead of you paying for your car outright, you enter into a lease agreement for the car for a fixed period between 1 - 5 years.
You + Your Employer
An agreement is set up between you, your employer and us. Then, your deductions for the lease (including running costs too, if that's what you want) are made by your employer from your pre-tax income. And that reduces the income tax you pay each pay cycle. Plus, your deduction amount is fixed, so you know what you’re paying for your car each month.
You + Leaselab
With a direct line of communication through a dedicated relationship manager, we'll help you navigate any challenges right the way through your lease. Whether it's today or five years from now, we promise you’ll always have the same level of help and service all the way through to the end of your lease.

How does the Geely EX5 compare to the BYD Atto 3 for novated leasing?
Both qualify for FBT exemption with similar tax benefits. The EX5 is larger with more interior space and costs roughly $1,500 more driveaway than an Atto 3 Premium. The Atto 3 has been around longer with proven reliability; the EX5 counters with features like massaging seats typically found in luxury models.
At Leaselab, you can lease the Atto 3 from $152 per week, or the EX5 from $154 per week.
How much does it cost to charge a Geely EX5?
Home charging costs around 3-5 cents per kilometre depending on electricity rates. A full charge from empty costs roughly $12-18 at home using average rates. Real-world consumption sits around 145-159Wh/km, making it significantly cheaper to run than petrol, especially when charging costs are paid through your lease.
Is the Geely EX5 good for long-distance driving?
Absolutely. Real-world highway range sits around 375km, while city driving can achieve 430km. DC fast charging gets you from 30-80% in about 20 minutes, making longer trips manageable.
The soft, comfortable suspension and spacious cabin make highway cruising pleasant, though you'll want to use public fast chargers as it lacks DC charging beyond 100kW.
Who are the Geely EX5’s rivals?
The Geely EX5 competes with a growing group of compact electric SUVs, including the Peugeot e-2008 (from $161 a week) and Volvo EX30 (from $199 a week), all of which offer similar size, electric range and urban-focused practicality.
